Herts V Middx Indoor Match
Our first Inter County Match for 2010 was against Hertfordshire on Sunday 21st March.  The venue was the Sports Hall of St Albans Girls School and the round was a Portsmouth.  The hall was bright with ample space behind the equipment line.  Ron Hawkes, the Middlesex Team Manager was not able to attend the shoot having just been released from hospital.
Everyone arrived on time and sighters took place at 13.30, the judge in charge being Kevin Thurlow.  It was a relaxed, friendly match enjoyed by all the Middlesex Team with the scoring remaining very competitive right down to the final arrows.  We had two juniors competing in the senior team for the first time and both put in very good performances.
Dave Osmond and I tallied up the final scores and the results were as follows:
The Middlesex Compound Team won by 38 points and the top Middlesex scorer was Ben Humphrys (junior) with 582.  The Recurve match was won by Hertfordshire by 20 points and our top scorer was Jonathon Paradi with 574 closely followed by John Williams (junior) 572 and Leander Pittis 571.   The Middlesex Longbow Team won by 19 points with the top scorer for us being Michael Baily with 481.
It was my pleasure to act as Team Manager for this event, the Middlesex Chairman, Alan Lake came along towards the end of the afternoon to provide additional support.  I would like to express my thanks to all team members for their performances and complimentary comments.
Our next Inter County match for the Recurve Team will be on 11th April in Essex but I will be unable to attend as I am judging all that weekend.

Netta Bridle
Acting Middlesex Team Manager
